Session Abstract

Siemens‘ Social Coding platform, launched in 2015, has grown to over 50,000 active users and 200,000 projects, driving measurable improvements in development efficiency and software quality.

In this talk, we’ll share Siemens‘ journey in nurturing a Social Coding culture – the key challenges faced and lessons learned.

Session Description

The promise of Social Coding holds immense potential for large organizations like Siemens as they navigate the challenges of digital transformation. Harmonizing technologies, streamlining software development processes, and simplifying reuse pave the path towards a more collaborative and adaptable software culture. However, realizing this potential is not easy, as navigating the required cultural shift takes time and perseverance.

At Siemens, we have established our Social Coding platform in 2015 to enable cross-functional collaboration and the reuse of foundational technologies across our diverse business units. Since then the platform is steadily growing with around 50,000 active users and 200,000 projects.

In this talk, we will explore the challenges and lessons learned from our ongoing efforts to nurture a Social Coding culture at Siemens. Attendees will gain insights into the required organizational and cultural transformation, practical strategies for launching a successful social coding initiative, and maybe inspiration to start their own digital transformation.
