Ostap Sereda

Ostap Sereda received his PhD in comparative history from Central European University in 2003. Since 2015 he has been teaching modern history at the Ukrainian Catholic University in L’viv. He has been a visiting professor at CEU since 2012, and at Bard College Berlin since 2024. He has also held fellowships at the European University Institute, Harvard University, and Imre Kertész Kolleg Jena. In March 2022, Sereda became the program director of the academic project Invisible University for Ukraine. His research focuses on 19th-century Ukrainian history, cultural politics, and the history of Ukrainian studies, and he co‑authored The Intellectual Foundations of Modern Ukraine (Routledge, 2023).

Invisible University for Ukraine (IUFU) is a hybrid certificate program supporting Ukrainian students affected by the war through interdisciplinary courses, mentoring, research support, and transnational academic networks, complementing Ukrainian higher education.
